Advent and Christmas 2020

As we continue to come out of lockdown, things continue to change almost by the day,

and it is very difficult to say with any certainty what we will be able to offer at Christmas this year.

Please keep checking back here, and as we know what we can do, this page will be updated.

Compline will be said twice a week during Advent,

in All Saints', Darton, on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 8.30.

These will also be online, and for details of how to join online from home, please see our home page.

In addition to the usual round of weekly services which can be found on our Regular Services page, the following services will take place over Christmas.

As in previous years, we will hold Advent Study groups through Advent,  and this year we will be considering the presence of God in the world through the difficult year we have shared, with the help of Tom Wright's book:

God and the Pandemic.

Study Groups will be at 7.30 on Thursday evenings and will be held online on Zoom.

Please visit our home page for details of how to join our online services and events.

Handouts to be used in these study groups are below, and each one will be uploaded on the day of the study group.

Christmas Eve

Sadly we cannot open our churches to celebrate Midnight Mass this year but we will still share together in the first Mass of Christmas at 9.00 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

We will be holding an outdoor Christingle service at both churches in order to enable more people to come and be part of this popular event.

These will be held at the following times:

Sunday 20th December @ 4.00 p.m. @ St John's, Staincross

Thursday 24th December @ 4.00 p.m. @ All Saints', Darton

Please come well wrapped up, and a collection will be taken at both services for the work of the Children's Society.

Blue Christmas

Blue Christmas is an opportunity to share the message of the Christmas season in the light of the loss of loved ones who will be missing from our gatherings this Christmas.

With the opportunity to listen to music, reflect on our memories, and light a candle to remember loved ones, this is a peaceful opportunity to stop in the busyness of the season.

Blue Christmas will be in All Saints', Darton

at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday 20th December

Christmas Day

We will celebrate Christmas as usual in both churches.

Parish Eucharist in St John's, Staincross at 9.00 a.m.

Parish Mass in All Saints', Darton at 10.30 a.m.
